access control product design
A simple, reliable access control product design for Paxton’s RFID door handles
Paxton Access – one of the leading access control companies in the world have trusted us since 2010 to be their first choice agency for technical product design.

summary

We designed a very novel and innovative mechanism for Paxton to a demanding brief.

This solved a very difficult and urgent problem for Paxton at the time.

With no springs, levers, pins or ball bearings it is super easy to assemble

We did all design work including delivering fully working detailed prototypes.

We collaborated closely with Paxton’s existing design team.

the brief

Paxton’s internal team had gone around in circles for too long and that they needed some help finding a solution.

Paxton needed a reliable and elegant RFID door handle that allows the powerful technology of Net2 to control access.

Reliability and ease of assembly was critical as was designing something that would look elegant on the outside and be able to work within the confined inside space.

solution

With no springs, levers, pins, ball bearings or grease, all of which are so often seen in a “mechanism”, our design was very elegant and simple to assemble and proved highly reliable too.

the result

The Net2 PaxLock has since gone on to sell extremely well for Paxton and proved very reliable too, helping them on the even greater success.

What the client says:

It has been very productive to work with DP. They brought back to life an important project that we had almost given up on. They were able to come on board and inject some fresh and different thinking, solving a problem that we labeled too difficult. As a result, we now have a great product with a very positive future ahead of it.

They worked collaboratively and closely with our internal design team’s ideas and concepts focused on the best end result and provided incredible value.

I would certainly recommend D+P to any company that is developing new products or needs product design services. Great work guys, thank you!
