An important part of our work here at D&P is keeping clients fully informed. We do our best to make sure we keep clients informed of what is going on with their product design project. We aim for a minimum of a weekly call. Or more if it is needed. Even if there is not much to tell, I like to think that our client’s appreciate being kept fully in the loop. Much like if your train stops in the middle of nowhere, you want announcements keeping you informed. I know it annoys me up when suppliers don’t keep us informed even on a basic level. If they do this we usually stop using them. So I make sure we do not do that to our clients. Of course if its good news, everyone is happy. But if it is bad news, I still make the call. Its never nice giving this news, but then I’ll explain what our plan is to solve the problem and when they can expect it to be solved. I’ve found this goes a long way to keeping relations good all the way through a design project and beyond.
