Power where you need it- A power track system to replace traditinal sockets

This involved working closely with the client and understanding the problems and the constraints to be able to come up with several concepts from which one was chosen to move the design much further towards the finished product. The components worked on are still in final development stages and therefore much of the work done we are not able to show.

The work was mostly on plastic injection moulded components and overmoulded components.
There were a lot of design constraints which presented a significant design challenge.

We cant say any more  Sorry! We’ll add some more detail when we are allowed to.

Solar Energy

This is a ‘PolyTrough concentrating solar collector’. It is used to generate energy from the Suns rays.

The design work for NEP Solar was extensive. In total it was a one year project . The work consisted of a complete design using what NEP Solar had learned from an existing prototype. There were a large amount of components to design and many challenges to over come.
The main drivers in this project were cost and onsite build time.

This design has won an award for ‘the most innovative new product’ at the intersolar show in Germany which is one of the largest solar shows in the world

Golf Caddy

This powered golf caddy is the most compact in the world. You can fit several in a standard car boot!

The Client for this product needed his product to be on the market as soon as possible. This was the main driver of the project.
The main improvement over their existing product being the addition of a plastic enclosure to cover the mechanical parts which made for a much more professional looking product as well as being practical to keep out dirt and water from the motor area.

This product has since gone on to sell very well be very popular with the golfing community in Australia.

This work was really an example of where understanding what is required to meet commercial aims of a company is crucial. We were asked to take into account the commercial aims and all other constraints and to produce a design the worked in the timeframe given, which was very short. (8 weeks).
This is exactly what we did.

Private inventor

Project for a private inventor We are not able to say much about this product due to our non-disclosure agreement with this inventor. This is what we can say…… This is a concept project completed for a private inventor. It is an electro-mechanical product which uses plastic injection moulded enclosures and sheet metal structure. At this stage we are not able to say much more…..We’ll let you know when we can.

Washroom Accessories

This design was completed for a company that needed the design to be completed quickly. We bought together all the ideas and concepts they had to produce a simple effective and design to suit their needs. Engineering drawings were produced to enable accurate and consistent manufacture of the product
Reliable and Durable were the key words here. The product is made from stainless steel and produced using standard production techniques.

Analysis

At times it becomes necessary to analyse the strength of components to ascertain their suitability for the application they are intend for. This is done with the latest computer analysis software which enables our engineers to be much more certain of the design being proposed. From this work we are able to feed this back in to the design to make changes to geometry , material type or thickness or any other factor which will provide the require strength, fatigue resistance or whatever it is we are trying to achieve.

Motor Sport

Replica formula 1 car steering wheel

This was a project to design and build a full size replica of a very well known manufacture’s formula 1 car for show purposes. Its very hard to tell the difference between these show cars and the real thing.

Steering wheel

The steering wheel shown is just one part of the design work done. Due to the nature of the industry this is all we can show you. Shown is the first off prototype before production of a finished product. The brief on this particular component was to design and build it for around twenty times less cost than the real thing. This was achieved using a combination of the clients manufacturing facilities and commercial prototyping techniques such as ‘silicon tooled vacuum casting’ You can also see the replica of the drivers instrument panel which was made using rapid prototype techniques.
